If you've been in a pool, and tried to move your arm sideways through the water, you know the resistance is substantial, and your arm doesn't move nearly as fast as it normally would. Hence the catterwhal does a slow-motion bat at the floating crate, and patiently watches the slow action. It passes the time.
Now it occurs to me: the catterwhal was up at dawn. My cats wake me up, but that's still awfully early. You tell me: should it be cat-napping?
